Notarization of one document takes about 5 to 10 minutes and is completed entirely online using a computer or smartphone!
1. Choose an Appointment Time

2. Complete Identity Verification
Before your appointment, you will complete a secure identity-verification process. This may include answering a few public-record-based security questions and using your smartphone to photograph an acceptable government-issued ID
3. Meet With Your Online Notary - Kendra!
At your scheduled time, you will join a secure live video session with Kendra Lewis, a certified and commissioned online notary in the state of Texas! She will review your ID, confirm your identity, and verify that you understand the document and are signing voluntarily
4. Review and Sign Online
During the video session, you will review the document, complete any required fields, and add your electronic signature while the notary observes
5. Pay and Receive Your Notarized Document(s)
After you sign, the notary will complete the notarization by adding the appropriate electronic notarial certificate, digital signature, and seal. After you submit payment, you will receive access to securely download your completed document(s)
6. Pricing

What You’ll Need for Your Online Notarization
Preparing for your online notarization is simple, with no complicated tools, apps, or special setup required!
Technology
A laptop or desktop computer equipped with working audio, a webcam, and microphone (Google Chrome or Safari is recommended). You will also need your smartphone handy to capture photos of your ID.
The Document
Your document must be uploaded in PDF format. Please fill out the document prior to notarization; however, be sure not to sign or date the document beforehand, as you must sign it live in front of the online notary.
Identity Verification
You will need a valid government-issued photo ID (like a Driver's License, State ID or U.S. passport) and your SSN to complete the identity check and knowledge-based authentication (KBA)

What is remote online notarization?
Remote online notarization, also called RON, allows eligible documents to be notarized online using secure audio-video technology. Instead of meeting with a notary in person, you meet with a commissioned online notary through a secure platform, verify your identity, sign electronically, and receive your notarized document digitally.
Is remote online notarization legal?
Yes. Remote Online Notarization is legal when performed by a properly commissioned online notary using a legally compliant remote notarization platform. RON is authorized in many states, including Texas. Even if you live in a state where RON is not currently authorized, you may still be able to have your document notarized by an online notary commissioned in a state where RON is allowed.
Is remote online notarization safe and secure?
Yes! Remote online notarization is designed to be a safe and secure way to complete eligible notarizations online. The notary is background screened, bonded, and insured, and the notarization is completed through a secure platform that uses advanced security measures like end-to-end encryption, automated ID verification (credential analysis), and Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA).
Each online notary session is securely recorded, and completed documents receive a tamper-evident digital seal to help protect against unauthorized changes after the notarization is complete.
Will my personal information and documents be protected?
Yes! Remote online notarization platforms are designed to protect signer information and documents using secure technology, identity verification, and tamper-evident electronic documents. As with any online transaction, you should use a private internet connection, a secure device, and avoid completing your session on public Wi-Fi whenever possible.
Do I have to be in the same state as the online notary?
No. You do not have to be in the same state as the online notary. The notary must follow the laws of the state where they are commissioned, but the signer may be located elsewhere. That means you may be traveling, out of state, or even outside of the country at the time of the online notarization, as long as the document is eligible, you can complete the identity-verification process, and the receiving party will accept a remote online notarization.
What types of documents can be notarized online?
Many common documents may be eligible for remote online notarization, including affidavits, powers of attorney, acknowledgments, jurats, real estate documents, seller packages, business documents, legal documents, estate-related documents, and general notarizations. Acceptance can depend on the document type and the receiving party, so it is always best to confirm that remote online notarization is acceptable before your appointment.
Are there any documents that cannot be notarized online?
Yes. Some documents may not be appropriate for remote online notarization. For example, a document may not be eligible if the receiving agency, court, title company, foreign jurisdiction, or other recipient requires a wet-ink notarization or will not accept an electronically notarized document.
Texas state law also does not allow the following documents to be notarized online:
- Wills or codicils – these require physical, ink signatures and in-person witnesses
- Birth/death certificates, marriage licenses, and divorce decrees – certified copies must be requested directly from the issuing government custodian
- Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) – The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) mandates physical inspection of identity documents, making I-9 forms ineligible for online notarization
- Depositions – Remote online notaries are not allowed to administer oaths for depositions.
- Documents with Blank Spaces – Notaries are prohibited from notarizing an incomplete document that contains blank spaces meant to be filled out after the notarization takes place.
How is my identity verified during the online notarization process?
Your identity is verified remotely through a two-step process: Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) and Photo ID Verification. This process must be completed within 12 hours of your scheduled notary session.
Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA): You will be required to provide a U.S. address and a Social Security Number that is at least two years old. You will then answer specific personal questions generated from public and private data records.
Photo ID Verification: You are required to submit a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state-issued ID, or passport). You will be prompted to take photos of the front and back of your ID using your smartphone, which undergoes an automated credential analysis to check for tampering, expiration, and authenticity.
Biometric Verification (Optional): For certain sessions, you may also be prompted to take a short “selfie.” The system’s facial recognition technology will compare your photo to your ID to ensure it matches your real presence.
The notary will also examine the identification to ensure that it appears to be genuine and that it matches the name of the signer on the document and the person appearing before them.
How do I schedule a notarization?

Will I receive a paper copy or a digital copy of my notarized document?
Remote online notarization produces a digital, electronically signed and notarized document. After the session is complete, you will receive access to the completed digital document.
Can I print my online notarized document after the session?
Yes. In most cases, you can print a copy of your completed online notarized document for your records. However, the official notarized version is typically the electronic document because it contains the electronic signatures, electronic notarial certificate, digital seal, and tamper-evident technology.
Will banks, title companies, courts, or other businesses accept an online notarized document?
Many businesses, title companies, lenders, and other organizations accept properly completed online notarized documents, but acceptance is ultimately up to the receiving party. Before scheduling, it is a good idea to confirm that the person, company, agency, court, or institution receiving your document will accept a remote online notarization.
How much does remote online notarization cost?
The cost for a remote online notarization through Accurate Notary Online is regulated by the Texas state government. Total cost depends on the notarial act performed and the number of signers. The minimum fee is $35. Examples of pricing are given below:
Single Signature: $35 total

Two Signatures (Single Certificate): $36 total

Two Signatures (Separate Certificates): $70 total
